2008 Iron Cross 1st Class

This version of the Iron Cross First Class was considered for introduction in 2008, as the German Army sought a way of rewarding bravery in the Armed Forces. After debate, the re-introduction of the Iron Cross was rejected due to its association with the Second World War.

This insignia is die struck, with a white-frosted silver finish and a black painted centre.
