The Pilot's Observer Badge was first made available on the 3rd of March 1914 by King Ludwig III of Bavaria, and was designed to be similar to the Prussian Observer Badge, with all of the same requirements, differing only in design.
This excellent reproduction has a t bar clasp on the back for attaching to a uniform, and is enamelled with black and yellow checkerboard pattern surrounded by a red box. the badge is surrounded by oakleavesand is surmounted at the top by the Bavarian crown. the whole piece has an antique petina to it, giving it an eye catching look.
