The Iron Crescent was also known as The Ottoman War Medal or the Gallipoli Star. It was awarded to troops of the Ottoman Army and of the other Central Powers during WW1 for gallantry in battle. This is the 1st Class version of the award.
These awards are made from copper, and they have a pin back for fitting to the tunic.
