Prussian Order of the Crown 1st Class Breast Star.

This beautifully presented convex eight-pointed breast star is antique finished, and bears the symbol of the Prussian Crown in gold surrounded by the motto "Gott Mit Uns" on a blue enamel ring. This star would have been worn on the left breast as part of a set with a badge and pale-blue ribbon on the right.

Instituted in 1861, the Prussian Order of the Crown could only be awarded to commissioned officers (or civilians of approximately equivalent status). A lower grade medal associated with the order could be earned by non-commissioned officers and enlisted men.
