The Knights Cross of the War Merit Cross without Swords was introduced on 19th August, 1940, and was awarded for outstanding military or civilian merit which did not involve combat service on the front line. The version without swords was awarded for bravery or merit which did not involve exposure to physical danger. These crosses feature the marker's marks '1' and '900' along the bottom edge of the cross as well as on the suspension loop.
This product is the more desirable thin type, rather than the thicker version. It is die-struck in one piece with a heavy silver plate finish. The medal also comes with 12 inches of the according Knights Cross of the War Merit Cross ribbon.
