Product Details
Originally instituted by Ernst Roehm in November 1933, the S.A. Sports Badge was sanctioned by Hitler in 1935. The award was presented in three grades, as recognition of a proficiency in sports and military sports exercises, and was awarded to members of both the S.A. and S.S.
This was the 2nd version of the badge, featuring the usual design of an upturned sword on a swastika, surrounded by an oakleaf wreath. The reverse is complete with the inscription in German which translates as ‘Property of the S.A. Sports Badge Main Office’ alongside the correct German style hinge.
This Bronze class example is die-struck from brass, and has an antiqued bronze finish. Measures 47mm x 57mm.
