Grand Cross Order of the Red Eagle Without Swords Breast Star

Awarded for valour in combat, long service, and for great military leadership. One of Prussia’s most famous awards, the ‘Roter Adlerorden’ was bestowed on commissioned officers and high ranking officials, both before and during the First World War. Presented here is the Grand Cross version of the award, which was the highest level of the award.

Presented as a 8 pointed Breast Star in gold, with an enamelled centrepiece depicting a red eagle with the words 'Sincere et 'Constanter', which was the motto of the Order. The back of the badge holds a vertical clasp for attachment.
