Product Details
Officially the Medal for Gallantry and Merit for Members of the Eastern Peoples. Established on 14 July 1942, it was given personnel from the former Soviet Union (Ostvolk in German, literally "Eastern people"), who volunteered to fight alongside German forces.
This particular medal is the 1st class in gold, and comes with swords denoting gallantry. It features an eight pointed star, and a floral motif, surrounded by oakleaves.
In 1957 the Eastern People's Medal was among the World War II decorations re-authorised for wear by the Federal Republic of Germany, and could be worn unaltered due to the lack of a swastika.
