The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire was instituted in 1917 by King George V, and then later redesigned by King George VI in 1936.
This is the 2nd type MBE awarded from 1936 and is still awarded to this day. This award is a silver-coloured cross patonce surmounted above by the King's Crown, and a central medallion on the cross that is surrounded by the Order's motto 'For God and the Empire'. The centre of the cross depicts the busts of King George VI and Queen Mary.
This replica is of the Member's class, the lowest of the order, and is presented with a small length of rose ribbon edged in pearl white denoting the award is of the Civilian Division, and comes ready to attach with a brooch pin on the reverse.
